Deprecation Notice: Transitioning from Long-Based IDs to GUIDs
As part of our commitment to enhance system robustness and maintain high industry standards, we have decided to deprecate the old long-based IDs currently in use. Starting in June 2023, our system will transition to using Globally Unique Identifiers (GUIDs). This shift aligns with our strategic objective of ensuring a globally unique, non-repeating identifier system that guarantees a seamless experience across our various services.
What This Means for You?
The new GUIDs will require changes to your system integrations where IDs are used. Depending on your specific use case, this may involve alterations to data types, adjustments in database schemas, or modifications in your codebase to accommodate the new ID format. We understand this is a significant change, and we’re here to support you throughout this transition.
- New ID's in all links, backward compatible
- New document creation links
Transition Timeline
We want to provide a smooth and seamless transition, and therefore, we will start the phase-out process of long-based IDs in June 2023. From this point forward, new entities will be assigned GUIDs, and existing entities will gradually be migrated to the new system.
We advise all developers to prepare for this change by updating their systems to accommodate GUIDs as soon as possible. We suggest beginning with your development environments before progressing to your production systems, allowing sufficient time for thorough testing.
