An overview of the packages Docly ships with — what each one provides and when to install it.

Developer packages

These packages give you the tools to build in Docly. Install them when you are creating schemas, templates or code.

  • Developer Tools — schema designers, code editing, the basics for building anything custom in a workspace. This is the package the Getting Started tutorial installs.

  • File Storage — adds upload of binary and image files. Install when documents in your workspace need attachments or media.

  • Productivity docs — schemas for checklists, documentation pages and step-by-step guides.

  • Docly Package Releaser — the tool used to release new versions of a package. Install it into a package workspace to make that package installable elsewhere. See Publishing a package.

Installing a package

  1. Open the workspace properties

  2. Go to the Packages tab

  3. Click Add Package, pick the one you want, and click Install

Packages can only be added to the workspace root, and only by a user with admin access to it. The list shows the packages that both you and the workspace owner can open; packages marked for developers appear only for users with developer access.

A package picked from the list is added as a reference: its schemas and templates become available, but no files are copied. A package installed from an address is unpacked under #/ in the workspace — see Publishing a package. You can also build your own.
